Relevant elements on biscuits purchasing decision for coeliac children and their parents in a supermarket context

The aim of this work was to study the behaviour and motivations coeliac children their parents when purchasing biscuits. Four groups (n = 30) participants differing in condition (coeliac non-coeliac) age (children parents) were studied. Participants asked “purchase” biscuits, either for themselves (children) or (parents), a simulated supermarket aisle that included twelve commercial biscuits (six gluten-free six regular ones). Eye-tracking technique used register visual attention during exercise laddering interviews obtain self-reported reasons choice. number fixations received by label elements analysed most them varied depending on condition, both. In comparison with non-coeliac children, fixated more ingredients, words symbols, less biscuit image. Parents put ingredients certified symbol, image, product name, cartoon, nutritional information than parents. According chains (attribute-consequence-value), all looked pleasure as final value, but only showed interest brand unknown products they want try. differed attributes linked health certification logo short ingredient list group, low sugar fat contents one. Trust economy relevant children.
